Lampwork etc

In my first beadmaking class we used vermiculite and the beads were dusty, but most are still in tact over a decade later. I started with a fiber blanket at home, and still sometimes use it if I do a little demo at a bead store but go home to batch anneal in the kiln.I dont care to but pyrex for two reasons ~Its owned by the DOW chemical corp. and it seems to come scraped up like it was drug behind a truck not to mention there seems to be stretched out air bubbles in the wall that makes one side of the bubble flat. Then I fume the silver. In my experience, when you see the silver fume it is almost too much. Very little gives me the best colors. Also, the black backing makes a big difference.Making Lime Murrini.
