Bealeton, VA. Jan 27, 2009. #1. I have a Huskee 35 ton log splitter with a 12/5 hp B/S engine. The thing is a beast that no log has proven to be to tough. The one problem (other then it is loud to run) is that it has an incredible kickback when using the pull cord on every third or forth pull of the cord. Enough to rip the fingers off a hand.

Hi there. My old Huskee 22 ton log splitter's engine seized up. Luckily I have another similar spec'd engine available, but it has a shorter shaft. Old motor has a 3-5/32" shaft, new motor only a 1-13/16" shaft. The old motor was coupled with a Lovejoy 1/2"-7/8" L connector with the rubber spider. The 22ton speeco is more like 1/2 gallon of fluid per Gpm of flow and seems to be fine although the fluid does get pretty warm on mine. If you go to a 16gpm pump you are closer to 1/3 gallon/gpm. Excess heat in a hydraulic system is not your friend. 180F is where the seals in the system will start to fail.
