Needing a new barrel for my long range Savage I decided to go with a Shilen barrel - but not the normal six groove rifled barrel, rather their “Ratchet Rifled” four-groove profiled land barrel.Shilen Savage Barrels come threaded and fully chambered ready to be installed into the action with no additional machining or modification needed. Barrel finish will be polished for stainless and blued for chrome-moly. The customer may pick the finish length of their choice. There is an additional charge for lengths longer than 26".I like McGowen barrels and get a new barrel every year for one of a bunch of rifles. Excellent service & product. Cleaned up as easy as my barts and kriegers. I pulled the barrel at 2400-2500, it's been 6yrs ago, so kinda fuzzy. It still shot under 3/4moa, with no flyers or wild shots at distance, but it had lost 125fps. With my tested lot of Center-X,RimX/Shilen is comparable to Vudoo/Ace at 50 yards.
